Description
Up for sale is an original 1928 Print Ad for Lincoln Motor Co.In 1928, Lincoln automobiles had an advertising campaign featuring their cars against a backdrop of exotic birds and, in one instance, a butterfly. The artist was Winthrop Stark Davis (1885-1950) who signed his paintings "Stark Davis" and whose fine arts work also dealt with such birds.
Winthrop Stark Davis was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1885. He subsequently lived and worked in Chicago, where he was affiliated with several arts institutions including the Palette and Chisel Club. Davis exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1924 and at the Chicago Galleries Association in 1930, winning prizes in both shows.
Shipped via USPS First Class Mail in a plastic protective sleeve sandwiched between 2 pieces of stiff cardboard.
