Please read to the end as this will answer many questions about the bike.Custom 1971 Honda cb750. I have owned this motorcycle since 1985. The photo of the blue bike is this one as I first built it in 1986. There are many photos so please check them carefully. All the cb750 parts I currently have go along with the sale.
Here's a quick video link of the bike for sale being ridden

I bought this bike as a platform to transfer my 1969 bike to, which had issues and this was an easier route. That bike was a sandcast model, and many parts on this bike for sale are those. This bike for sale has a long list of mods that were sensible for the time, and made it a great rider. Even now it rides better than any early cb750 has a right to.
The bike has been in the high dry desert of Nevada it's entire life. It was well taken care of. Needless to say, it is not a rust bucket as is common for a fifty year old bike.
Starting at the front- it has a set of Frank Fork tubes, 'never leak' fork seals (which have never leaked) and Progressive Suspension fork springs. I believe I may have installed tapered headset bearings as well. It has the 1969 front brake caliper, triple tree and speedometer/tachometer. The fork sliders are off the 1969 also. The front fender has been cut shorter than stock. The front tire is a Metzler and it's in good shape for it's age.
The rear brake drum is polished. The rear wheel is 16" rim laced the the 1969 drum. The tire is a Continental and it's in good condition for it's age. The swingarm is a 1969 unit, chromed.
The riser bars are comfortable but I also have stock bars to go with the bike. There is a chrome center mounted ignition with a manual switch to keep the tail light on if when want. The headlight I believe was off a BSA. It is the large diameter style, I was running a truck lamp in it.
The previous tank (yellow with purple snake/wings) is no longer included with the bike. It was in bad shape, but I have included it in some pictures for effect. That fuel tank was ruined by the bike sitting fifteen years in the garage I'm afraid.
I am including two clean tanks. The white tank has a dent but is clean inside, the other (brown) tank is dent free and is spotless inside. Right now the bike is run off the white tank, which has a new fuel petcock. The bike has a new battery. After cleaning out the carbs, fresh gas and battery it fired right up and runs on all four cylinders- it could use some carb synchronization.
The bike has a custom chrome air cleaner, chrome swingarm, chrome side stand, and the 1969 oil tank is chrome. It has a bobber style rear mudguard and shorty early rear turn signals. I never had front turn signals on the bike, so you may want to install some. The horn is early original and works. The rear shocks are Koni. The seat is custom.
The exhaust headers and side pipes are Jardine 4 into 2. These used a crossover header design which gives an even extraction. This was unusual for the time as most systems would just run the left two down the left side and same for the right. this did nothing to equalize the firing and you would have an odd sounding system with poor exhaust extraction. The Jardine crossover system not only looks badass but improved the sound and cylinder exhaust extraction. The mufflers are tucked in tight and I never scraped them riding.
Dyna electronic ignition is installed and I must say was a huge improvement over fussing with points ignition.
The Front forks are smooth as butter with virtually no stiction and the Koni rears are the same. The ride of the bike is superb and it corners better than stock by a country mile. The sound of the Jardine pipes is incredible. Not loud, but very controlled and even.
I built this with taller gearing for longer riding comfort. If I remember right 4000 rpm was about 80 mph, whereas 5000 rpm at 80 was the stock gearing. So it was basically like having a 6th gear. I had a clear Lexan quarter fairing and this bike would haul speeds very nicely. I did have some front foot rests on it at one time and they may be included if I can find them.
The mileage shown of 26xxx is probably fairly close to actual on the bike. The bike had 11xxx when I bought it and the early speedo shows the combined mileage of both the bikes. I had other bikes through the years, so this one didn't get all the mileage. It was one of the favorites and is the last one in the stable to go.
The chain did go through the case as most did back then, but it was repaired before I got it and is the best repair I have seen of the 5or 6 such I have observed. It has never leaked, is solid and is smooth so it will take the full size countershaft sprocket with no trouble. The front brake currently does not work. It seemed to have frozen from sitting and will need to be addressed. I think it is the master cylinder as the issue but I haven't tried to fix it.
Extra parts included are many. Two stock fuel tanks, two front wheels one with aluminum D.I.D rim, several sets of stock handle bars, fork sliders, etc... Quite a few early rubber items new in bags. Check the photos closely.
The bike will need your own effort to get how you want it to be. It could be restored, and you could sell off some of the unused parts. Or you could respray with your own idea of a paint scheme and have a very nice vintage custom. Your call.
If you have any other questions or would like info about transportation options please contact me.
The bike is in Reno NV. I am selling it based on that pick-up location. You will need to contact me for options of transportation if you do not intend to have it picked up from my driveway personally or by courier service. I may be able to transport several hundred miles for mileage charges.
