This antique Porter Motor No. 4  was patented July 14, 1891 and manufactured by Porter & Leavitt Electric Motor company. Manufactured in Lebanon, New Hampshire. These electric motors came in four sizes No. 4 being the largest.
The motors were used by jewelers to power small lathes, they were also used to power dentil drills, sewing machines, fans, etc. This motor is not working, however, cosmetically, it is in a fine state of preservation! The original paint and gilding are like new! The bronze plate on top is in excellent condition!
