    Description

This very rare set of National League cufflinks (3/4" square) and key ring (2" x 1") was presented to my husband in 1996 by, then league, president Len Coleman.  My husband, who was in the sports equipment business, was introduced to Mr. Coleman by a very good friend who happened to be a National League umpire. The pieces are made of a gold tone metal and are not marked by a maker.  The front has the league emblem and reads, "since 1876 National League of Professional Baseball Clubs".  The back of the key ring bears the facsimile signature, "Leonard S. Coleman Jr.".   These are extremely rare as they were not sold in stores as are the team logo cuff links.
Mr. Coleman was born in Newark, N.J. and earned a Bachelor's degree from Princeton University then earned a Masters from Harvard.  He also played baseball and football there.  He was National League president from 1994 until 1999.  He continues to be active in sports to this day.
