Description

RARE EARLY CALIFORNIA STYLE NORTH & JUDD CAST BRASS & NICKEL 5 SPOT PATENTED SPURS & STRAPS CIRCA 1911-1929.   These spurs are quite rare, all original and in excellent condition.  North & Judd acquired and registered the patent for this 5 spot spur model from assignor, James W. Keystone Jr, of San Francisco as of March 28, 1911.  The spur was also made in a 3 spot model (see photos page 37 "Cowboy Spurs and Their Makers" by Jane Pattie).  The hand cast brass body is 6" in overall length with a 3 1/4" depth, a 3 1/4" heel band spread and stationary strap buttons, double heel chains and hangers.  The chap guarded, down turned California shank is 2" long with a 16 point gun metal rowel no. B10 that is 2" in diameter.
The period pass through straps are of 8 oz hand tooled strap leather with 2" nickel plated brass conchos and nickel plated roller buckles.  The spurs are marked with the familiar N & J anchor and registered patent date.  These spurs are pre-owned, used with a handsome aged patina.  They would be a welcome addition to any fine collection or will "Cowboy Up" for current show, performance or ranch use.  Please review the photos and description and email with questions.
